What is an Activity Based Syllabus? It is generally understood that when language activities are focused on forms/grammatical elements, the learning event is referred to as an exercise. When the activities are meaning focused or ‘communicative’ in nature, they are often called tasks. The interaction and learning result of both exercises and tasks are often called ‘activity’.
This syllabus aims to include both exercises and tasks in order to generate language activity that maps both form and meaning in communication. There are three principle activities presented here: a consciousness raising activity, a pictogloss activity and a role play activity. Access the lesson flash files below. The procedures for their use can be found in the files and on the description page. See also the link to a printable assessment instrument at the end of the syllabus. |
|
Notions: present time (events that are happening right now).
Functions and Concepts: 1) asking to join 2) asking to help. |
